Great news for the F1 fans as one of the most beloved drivers is expected to be back on track. The word is for the 1997 Formula 1 Champion, Jacques Villeneuve who formed a team under his name with the collaboration of the Italian Racing team Durango.

Villeneuve knows that one of the most important things in Formula 1 is the available funds in combination with the technical experience. He didn’t want to reveal where the money is coming from but he did stated that the whole effort is a joint venture. Rumors have linked several multi millionaires to the team but nothing is officially confirmed.

A very important thing is however, that at least for the first year, most likely Jacques Villeneuve will be in the cockpit of a Formula 1 Car. This will not only delight his fans but also will reduce the costs of the newly created team. The team is working hard to receive the first green light in order to participate to the 2011 Formula 1 Championship but as Villeneuve stated, nothing is certain.

What is certain however, it is that FIA will not repeat the same mistakes as they did last year when they permitted entry to USF1, blocking shortly after Stephan GP. As it is well known, USF1 was never able to secure the funding necessary to run to Formula 1 Championship which not only hurt FIA’s credibility but also the dreams of the employs that were hired full of promises and dreams.

Villeneuve maintains a strong rivalry with Michael Schumacher as the German was his main contender for the 1997 championship. Their relationships were extremely tensed after Schumacher tried to hit and force Villeneuve out of the race as that time Schumacher was winning the title only if Villeneuve was not able to finish the race. It will be interestingly to watch how those two will behave – if eventually Villeneuve is one of the drivers. However, the Villeneuve Racing must invest a lot of time, money and hard work in order to reach at least the current level of Sauber because Formula 1 doesn’t need any more Virgins, HRT or Lotus teams.

It was an amazing Hungarian Grand Prix as Mark Webber managed to secure the win for the 12th round of Formula 1 after a number of incidents. On Saturday, Sebastian Vettel showed everyone that has no opponent in the qualifying session where he took the pole position. In second spot was his teammate Mark Webber and on the second row was the two Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa.

The race begun with Vettel to keep the lead but Webber lost his spot from Alonso who advanced to the second place. Third was Webber and fourth was Massa while Petrov with Renault was battling with McLaren’s Hamilton to keep the fifth spot.

Vettel was increasing the distance from Alonso and within 15 rounds the time margin between first and second was at 6 seconds. However, on this round the safety car came out in order to allow the stewards to remove a piece from the track and the incidents on the pits start altering the race positions as all the drivers head in, in order to change their tyres set.

Kubica crashed with Sutil while Rosberg lost his left back tyre which hit a mechanic and was force to abandon the race. At that moment all the drivers with the exception of Webber changed their tyres set.

As the safety car was about to get inside the pits in order the race to begun again, Vettel left way to much distance from the leader Webber and was fined with a drive through penalty which dropped him in the third spot.

Webber drove fantastic and he managed to stay out in the track for 45 rounds with the soft tyres set managing a 22 seconds margin from the second Alonso which was more than enough for his pit stop and to maintain the leadership of the race.

Lewis Hamilton never finished the race as his suffered a malfunctioned gearbox while Michael Schumacher pushed Rubens Barrichello extremely close to the wall in an overtaking attempt and he might face some kind of penalty.

The fifth place of Vitaly Petrov with Renault is worth mentioning as well that Williams and Sauber had both their cars into the points.

Next Grand Prix is in Belgium at the monstrous circuit of Spa-Francorchamps at August 29th. Don’t miss it! The Formula 1 standings of the driver and constructors championship can be found on Lucky room to the Formula 1 section.

Mark Webber in Red Bull Racing was the winner of the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday May 9th near the beautiful city of Barcelona. The Red Bull’s driver dominated the event from the very beginning as in the qualifying session managed to secure the Pole Position.

Second, in the starting grid was his team mate, Sebastian Vettel while Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso were in the 3rd and fourth spot respectively. The race begun without any major surprises as we didn’t see many overtakes during the race. The action came just two laps before the checkered flag when Lewis Hamilton – who was at that point in second place – suffered a left front wheel tyre destruction and went of the track, crushing his car over the tyres wall. This promoted Fernando Alonso of Ferrari in the second spot and Sebastian Vettel on third spot. Vettel suffered also a tyres problem and he went into the pits to change tyres thus offered the opportunity of Alonso to steal his position.

The news regarding this race was the fourth place of Michael Schumacher who for the first time managed to be faster than his co-driver Nico Rosberg. The 7 times Formula 1 Champion drove excellently despite the fact that was chased for most of the race from Jenson Button and later on also from Felipe Massa.

This grand prix once more revealed the domination of Red Bull in qualifying sessions and in the race but also revealed that McLaren is the only team that can really hunt down Red Bull. Improvements forward made also by Ferrari and Mercedes and it will be interesting to watch who will manage to win the next Grand Prix in a week in the glamorous Monte Carlo of Monaco. The event is scheduled for May 16th at 14:00 GMT and there the car with the better aerodynamic design will have the advantage. It will be also very interesting to see how the new teams that are very slow, will behave on the narrow streets of Monaco.

Formula 1 grand prix races continue, this time in China at Shanghai International Circuit. Without any doubt we are watching one of the most exciting [...]

Formula 1 grand prix races continue, this time in China at Shanghai International Circuit. Without any doubt we are watching one of the most exciting Formula 1 championship of the last years as 7 drivers are within a 10 points margin after three races and given the fact that the winner gets 25 points instead of 10 it is easy to understand that the battle will continue for many races to come.

Red Bull is performing better than anyone and their latest result where they managed to finish in 1-2 spots in Malaysia is the leaving proof for that. However, it is the two Ferrari’s drivers who top the standings as Massa is first with 39 points and Alonso is second with 37, sharing the spot with Red Bull’s driver, Sebastian Vettel.

McLaren, Mercedes and lately Renault follow behind while from the rest, the most notable is without any doubt Force India. McLaren’s Hamilton is expecting his team to cover the lost ground quickly as he strongly believes that they do have the power to be this year’s winners.

As the teams landed in China they encounter a completely different environment than Malaysia. The temperature in Shanghai is currently below 10 degrees Celsius while rain is expected at Sunday morning. The race is scheduled for 08:00 GMT at Sunday 18th of April and the qualification session (Saturday 07:00 GMT) will determine a lot as Ferrari and McLaren have clear difficulties to write down good times in bad weather conditions (see Malaysia).

Although it is too early to predict the winner the fact is that Red Bull is a step ahead of all the others. Their last performance in Malaysia was fantastic and they do have the power to repeat it here in Shanghai. We shouldn’t forget that Vettel and Webber made the 1-2 last year in China while Jenson Button was third. However, as always, the weather conditions will play a determine factor both in qualifying session as in the race itself.

Seven teams where in the Valencia circuit today for the first official day of Formula 1 2010 season tests. Felipe Massa was behind the wheel of Ferrari F10 while Pedro de la Rosa drove for the first time the Sauber C29. Nico Rosberg drove the Mercedes MGPW01 while Gary Paffett begun the initial tests for the McLaren MP4-25. Barrichelo drove a Williams FW32 while Robert Cubica was behind the wheel of a Renault R30. Finally, Sebastian Buemi – who was the first driver that started the testing period – was behind the wheel of a Toro Rosso STR5.

These tests are clearly non competitive as the teams are trying to check the electronic systems and the balance of the car. The tests will continue later today with some initial setups given that the problems that appeared in the morning will be solved.

Felipe Massa managed to complete 32 laps with his Ferrari F10 where his fasted lap was 1:13:088 while Toro Rosso is clearly having some more problems than the rest as Sebastian Buemi managed to complete only 10 laps. His fasted lap was 1:19:279.

Sauber’s Technical Director Willy Rampf stated that the team is performing those tests in order to get an overall picture of the car such as weight distribution and electronics performance. Later today the team will try some initial setups and further tuning of the car.

Cosworth is ready to send the first shipment of engines to Formula 1 teams. For the 2010 season, Cosworth will be the engine supplier of Williams, Campos, Lotus, US F1 and Virgin Racing. This is a very encouraging step forward for the 4 new teams as now have no excuses regarding car development. Cosworth has a long and respectable history with racing engines as they first started supplying racing engines back in 1967. They have since then celebrated 10 championships and 13 driver titles.

FIA will allow scheduled development testings from February 1st 2010. Although there is still enough time till that date, it seems all the new teams are struggling to be ready in order to meet this very important deadline. There are rumors that at leas two of the new F1 entry teams will not be ready in time as predictions show a presence after the first two grand prix races. However, unless we see who will participate in the first official tests at the beginning of February, we can only make speculations regarding the level of completion of each team.

FIA approved the request of Mercedes for Michael Schumacher test a GP2 car. Michael was not in a high profile racing car for almost 3 years now. After Felipe Massa’s accident, Schumacher tried to drive a two years old Ferrari car last September but he was not able to handle the neck stress due to his current (that time) neck injury after a motorbike accident. GP2 car will be provided by the English “Super Nova” and the testing will take place on the Grand Prix circuit of Jerez this Tuesday and Thursday.

US F1 signs team manager

US F1 team might not yet have announced any pilots but they hired a team manager. John Anderson is the new team manager of US F1 and the team principle Ken Anderson had only the best words to say in order to describe the character of his new team member. In the development part, the US F1 cars managed to get the green light from FIA for further developing after they successfully passed the high demanding crash tests.

Sporting director Peter Windsor stated that will be on the Bahrain starting grid despite the rumors for the opposite. The team is looking to recruit 2 racing drivers that will help the newly created racing team to further develop the car by offering important and accurate feedback through the racing tests. Their thoughts are to secure one American driver and one experienced driver that will help them set up the car. USF1 is one of the racing teams that ex-Formula 1 champion Jacques Villeneuve hopes to secure a seat on as Jacque is a high profile experienced driver with fans and supporters across the world.

Robert Kubica will continue to race for the F1 2010 season with Renault. This is what his manager Daniel Morelli stated. Kubica future to the Formula 1 cockpit was in doubt after the Luxembourgian investment company Genii Capital has bought a large percentage of the Renault stocks.

Kubica had a quite good F1 2009 season. He classified in the 14th position of the standings with 17 points. He is aiming for a fast car and high lever performances in order to manage to secure much better results this year.

So far there are 5 empty seats as Renault has only confirmed Kubica, Torro Rosso has confirmed only Sebastian Buemi, Campos has confirmed only Bruno Senna and USF1 has not confirmed any drivers yet. However, there is a good chance that more drivers seats are currently available as many teams have not yet decided which will be the racing drivers and who will be the development drivers.

First Grand Prix race for the 2010 season is scheduled for Bahrain on March 14th. There are about 75 days before the first race and all the teams are expected to start the development test within the second week of January.

Michael Schumacher return on the racing action it was greeted with enthusiasm by the F1 world – especially from all those who used to support [...]

Michael Schumacher return on the racing action it was greeted with enthusiasm by the F1 world – especially from all those who used to support him for over 15 years- but did not take long time to cause displease many people. The representative of the Mercedes employees is far than happy with the choice of the German company to sign a contract with the German pilot mainly because Michael Schumacher earnings are 7 million euros per year. In a early statement, the representative stated that Mercedes employees would find as more logical the withdraw of the team from F1 in order to cut expences than rather invest more at the very same time we are on a middle of financial crisis.

The reason that led the representative for such statement was the decision of Mercedes to transfer the production line of C-class to USA in order to reduce production costs.

However, this is something that has nothing to do with Michael Schumacher as racing to Formula 1 is what he knows best to do with a remarkable passion for success and devotion. This seems to be a much more exciting formula1 2010 season - comparing with 2009 – as 13 teams will participate.

Confirmed drivers line-up for the 2010 Formula1 Season:
