NFL Division Playoff Odds – Arizona Cardinals vs. New Orleans Saints
Posted on January 13, 2010 by Harry
Arizona Cardinals need to exceed themselves if they want to progress to the NFL playoffs. They travel to New Orleans for the game against New Orleans Saints. Saints have 3 straight defeats in the last three games they played and we will have the opportunity to see if the extra week of rest has benefit the team. Arizona morale is high after they managed to secure a win in overtime against Green Bay Packers with 51 to 45. The point is; can the repeat such an offensive performance after 6 days? It is important to understand that this is something that depends on the Saints defense.
The team will miss Charles Grant but they will score back with the return of cornerback Jabari Greer and linebacker Scott Shanle which are both back in action; two players who can really make the difference for the Saints. Cardinals played well for a quarter against Green Bay but then they collapsed and lost their leading to an immense result to the match with an ending score of 45-45. (During overtime Cardinals managed to score 6 points and win the match with 51 to 45).
One thing that we must notice here is that the Saints lost three games in a row with terrible scoring statistics. They manage to score only ten points against Carolina and just seventeen points against Dallas and Tampa Bay. This is way under the average of almost 32 points they score in each game. However, Saints did have a week of extra rest plus Pierre Thomas returns.
The above mentioned facts lead me to the conclusion that Saints will be able to cover the 7 points handicap and win the game. I am not sure if the game will go over or under 57 points so it is better to bet on the 7 points of Saints.
