FORMULA 1: MARK WEBBER WITH RED BULL SECURED THE WIN IN HUNGARY
It was an amazing Hungarian Grand Prix as Mark Webber managed to secure the win for the 12th round of Formula 1 after a number of incidents. On Saturday, Sebastian Vettel showed everyone that has no opponent in the qualifying session where he took the pole position. In second spot was his teammate Mark Webber and on the second row was the two Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa.
The race begun with Vettel to keep the lead but Webber lost his spot from Alonso who advanced to the second place. Third was Webber and fourth was Massa while Petrov with Renault was battling with McLaren’s Hamilton to keep the fifth spot.
Vettel was increasing the distance from Alonso and within 15 rounds the time margin between first and second was at 6 seconds. However, on this round the safety car came out in order to allow the stewards to remove a piece from the track and the incidents on the pits start altering the race positions as all the drivers head in, in order to change their tyres set.
Kubica crashed with Sutil while Rosberg lost his left back tyre which hit a mechanic and was force to abandon the race. At that moment all the drivers with the exception of Webber changed their tyres set.
As the safety car was about to get inside the pits in order the race to begun again, Vettel left way to much distance from the leader Webber and was fined with a drive through penalty which dropped him in the third spot.
Webber drove fantastic and he managed to stay out in the track for 45 rounds with the soft tyres set managing a 22 seconds margin from the second Alonso which was more than enough for his pit stop and to maintain the leadership of the race.
Lewis Hamilton never finished the race as his suffered a malfunctioned gearbox while Michael Schumacher pushed Rubens Barrichello extremely close to the wall in an overtaking attempt and he might face some kind of penalty.
The fifth place of Vitaly Petrov with Renault is worth mentioning as well that Williams and Sauber had both their cars into the points.
Next Grand Prix is in Belgium at the monstrous circuit of Spa-Francorchamps at August 29th. Don’t miss it! The Formula 1 standings of the driver and constructors championship can be found on Lucky room to the Formula 1 section.
