Formula 1 – Spanish Grand Prix – Free Practice 1 Results

Formula 1 Grand Prix starts again after a three weeks break, this time to the Circuit de Cataluña near Barcelona. The Friday Free Practice Session was dominated by the two McLarens followed by Michael Schumacher’s Mercedes. The German multi-times Formula 1 champion was almost 6 tens slower than Hamilton but less than half a tenth slower than the other McLaren’s pilot Jenson Button. Those three driver’s were the only ones that managed to break the 1’22.000.
Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel managed to achieve good lap times while Rosberg was also very close. Robert Kubica managed once again to stay close to this group while Fernando Alonso with Ferrari was 8th. Vitally Petrov, Kobayashi, Buemi and Massa, all managed to write timed laps within the 1’22.
Adrian Sutil into his Force India was over the 1’23.000 as well as Jamie Alguersuari, di Resta, Barrichello and Hulkenberg. Finally, with over 4 seconds gap from the leader we have the drivers of the new team where, once again, Lotus with Kovalainen was faster of all the C-class Group.
The qualifying session is scheduled for Saturday May 8th at 12:00 GMT while the race is scheduled for Sunday May 9th at 12:00 GMT.
