Champions League day 6 – Wednesday Matches

Today, Wednesday 9th of December, is the last day of Champions League Group Stage matches. Another 8 exciting meetings await in a few hours. The participating teams will do whatever possible to secure a qualification ticket for the next stage of champions league or – at least – to participate to the next stage of UEFA Europa League.
On Tuesday 8th of December we had the following results:
Group A:
Juventus 1 – 4 FC Bayern München
Maccabi Haifa FC 0 – 1 FC Girondins de Bordeaux
Girondins de Bordeaux and Bayern München has qualified for the next stage of Champions League. Juventus will play at the UEFA Europa League.
Group B:
Beşiktaş JK 1 – 2 PFC CSKA Moskva
VfL Wolfsburg 1 – 3 Manchester United FC
Manchester United FC and CSKA Moskva progress to next stage. VfL Wolfsburg will continue to the UEFA Europa League.
Group C:
FC Zürich 1 – 1 AC Milan
Olympique de Marseille 1 – 3 Real Madrid CF
Real Madrid CF and AC Milan win the qualification tickets. Olympique de Marseille will continue to Europa League.
Group D:
Chelsea FC 2 – 2 APOEL FC
Club Atlético de Madrid 0 – 3 FC Porto
Chelsea and Porto progress to next stage of Champions League. Atlético de Madrid will be more than happy to continue to UEFA Europa League.

Today, 9th December 2009 we have the following Champions League matches:
Group E:
Liverpool FC 20:45 ACF Fiorentina
Olympique Lyonnais 20:45 Debreceni VSC
Fiorentina and Lyon have already qualified for the next stage. Fiorentina is currently first with 12 points, Lyon is second with 10 points, Liverpool is third with 7 points and on last place there is Debreceni with no points yet.
Today matches are quite difficult to predict as all the teams – with the exception of Debreceni – will have many new faces on the starting eleven. Certainly, Lyon and Liverpool have the quality and the desire for home wins but a double chance bet of 1X will be the wisest choice of both matches.
Group F:

Barcelona is on top spot with 8 points, on second and third place is Inter Milan and Rubin Kazan with 6 points each and on last place is Dynamo Kiev with 5 points.
This is the most puzzled group of all as any team can qualify for the next stage of Champions League as well for the next stage of UEFA Europa League. There are numerous scenarios regarding qualification and it is impossible to write them all. Dynamo needs a win with more than 2-0 to qualify but Barcelona progress to next stage with a draw or if they lost with less than three goals margin ( 1-0, 2-1, 3-1 etc). On the other match there must be a winner as both teams might not continue to the next stage of champions League. Inter Milan has the quality to win today – doing so they get a qualification ticket. Rubin Kazan needs a draw of 2-2 or more in order to have the advantage on equal points standings.
Group G:
VfB Stuttgart 20:45 FC Unirea Urziceni
Sevilla FC 20:45 Rangers FC
Sevilla is first with 10 points, on second place is Unirea with 8, Stuttgart is third with 6 and Rangers is on last place with just 2 points.
Sevilla has already qualified for the next stage of Champions League no matter what will happen today, however they are capable for the home win in front of their fans. On the other group match Stuttgart needs only a win if they want to progress. Anything else will give the ticket to Unirea.
Group H:
Olympiacos FC 20:45 Arsenal FC
R. Standard de Liège 20:45 AZ Alkmaar
Arsenal have already qualified. They are leading the board with 13 points, on second spot is Olympiacos with 7, third is Standard with 4 and on last spot is Alkmaar with just 3 points.
Olympiacos needs at least one point today and they are capable to do so. On the other group match both teams will go for the win as a qualifying ticket for Champions League and a ticket for next stage of UEFA Europa League are still available.
