The UIGEA is back! After years and years of hope for a possible solution to the issue the FBI has taken final and un noticed action by closing down the 3 worlds largest US friendly online poker rooms by seizing the domain names and publishing a warning clearly stating the following:

No real official news have yet been released in regards to the issue but during several visits to the public domain names of the three major operators the same notice has appeared on the websites which clearly states that the three companies have followed in procedures of misleading incorporation of companies and services which in basic notes have been issuing payment gateways on third part companies registered to provide other goods and have used the payment solutions to cater to the needs of the poker rooms ongoing business.

The decision has affected Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars and The Cereus Network which powers Ub.com (Ultimate Bet Poker and Absolute Poker).
Poker rooms powered by the Cake network including Cakepoker.com and Doyles Room Poker amongst others have not been affected and continue to accept US clients at the time.

The past 2-3 years had presented a grey area of conduct of business as the three poker rooms with a main highlight on PokerStars.com and Full Tilt Poker have continued to grow huge and flourish lucrative profits from the lack of a final decision which would affect their business model which more or less was based on major success after the implementation of the UIGEA.

After repeated efforts from the US authorities to prevent the above mentioned companies from operating business in the US by enhancing warnings and closing down processing this decision seems to be the final kill as following in the same example of the case of Wikileaks the domain name has been seized by its registrant and both domain names are now under the control of the FBI.

54 WSOP events have been played so far at the Rio Hotel & Casino at Las Vegas, Nevada and today, July 1st another popular event is scheduled which is no other than the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha World Championship. The Pot-Limit Omaha is one of the most popular events in the WSOP as thousands of players will battle for a prize pool of several millions.

However, the king of the World Series of Poker remains the $10,000 No Limit Texas Holdem which is scheduled at July 5th and it will last a full 13 days until we reach the nine top players. These poker players will battle for the WSOP bracelet sometime later on November (the date of the event is not announced yet). If you would like to participate there is still time as the registration time will end a day before the initial event day. More information you can get by the Rio & Casino Hotel at 800-752-9746.

The WSOP events attract thousands of people each year, people who love to play mainly on the online poker rooms. This is way all the major poker sites offer full sponsored packages to online poker players who reach the first place to the specific tournaments. The buy-in for the final WSOP tournament vary but generally the fee is between $150 to $250. However, the online poker rooms offer the chance to all the players to participate for a WSOP package via satellites where the buy-in is free.

As many players play poker online on daily basis, many states in the US have initiated procedures in order to benefit taxwise from the vast amount of money that is circulated online. The state of California aims to be the first one to legalize online poker – thus giving the opportunity to the citizens to play poker online legally – as they have already begin negations to construct a frame low where the game will be regulated by the state itself. However, the voting for the bill postponed as Senator Rod Wright – who is the bill’s author – decided that “it still needs a great deal of work”. Senator wants to introduce a strong frame law which will enable the state to benefit from the tax revenue (which is estimated to $2.1 billion annually) but the very same time to ensure that the local tribe groups who opposed to the bill will not suffer income losses. The state of California – which faces a $19 billion deficit – can only benefit from the legalization of poker but decisions must be made quickly as more and more issues will be risen every single day.

Men “The Master” Nguyen added one more WSOP bracelet, this time in the $10,000 7-card stud, (Event #10). This was his 7th WSOP bracelet and the victory credited his account with $394,800! The road to victory was not an easy one as the last eight man table featured some of the most known names in the 7-card stud poker game who have combined winnings over $20,000,000.

Men “The Master” Nguyen stated shortly after his win: “America made me the person I am today – a poker champion. Believe me, I am extremely happy I reached 7 WSOP bracelets. When I survived against Evdakov, I felt that I would be a winner today.” First man out was Sirious Jamshidi ($46,206) followed by Vladimir Schmelev ($55,991) and Michael Mizrachi ($68,949). Joe Cassidy ($86,461) was next while Nikolay Evdakov ($110,629) followed after his elimination by Nguyen. On the table remained Steve Billirakis, Brandon Adams and Men Nguyen. Adams managed to eliminate Billirakis ($152,788) – who rushed to the Deuce-to-Seven Single Draw event.

Pokerstars.com reckons the fact that a lot of people are using their mobile phones to run numerous applications including internet browsing, send / receive email and socializing. The mobile phones have evolved from simple communication devices to high tech tools and PokerStars.com saw a great opportunity to rise. The online poker giant bought Cecure Gaming, a company which specializes in the development of mobile gaming applications. The company has years of experience in the specific field as they operate in the mobile gambling market since 2000 and have active agreements with major communication carrier companies such as Orange, T-mobile and Vodafone. However, Cecure Gaming watched their profits to drop mainly because of the financial crisis and the board decided to sell the company. PokerStars.com made the best offered and acquired the mobile gaming company for an amount which was not revealed.

Pokerstars.com is aiming to develop a version of their poker software which will run over mobile operating systems but at the same time will ensure maximum quality and top security for the end user. Of course company’s plans are at initial stage as there are many parameters which should be taken under consideration including the processing and sensitive personal and financial information of the mobile application user.

It is well known that despite the fact that the encryption algorithm of the mobile devices is very strong, the fact that mobile devices virtually share the same network and the data are transmitted through a weak mean (air) can cause many unpredictable events and security issues. Pokerstars.com – so far – always paid great attention on internet security and they will not launch any kind of application unless they are absolutely certain their customers are protected.

Searching the internet, the end users welcomed such a possibility but they also reckoned the fact that unless the application is at the same standards as the downloaded version which provides maximum security and fairness will not install the application to their mobile phones.
